Branch-and-Cut-and-Price for Capacitated Connected Facility Location

چکیده
We consider a generalization of the Connected Facility Location problem (ConFL), suitable to model real world network extension scenarios such as fiber-tothe-curb. In addition to choosing a set of facilities and connecting them by a Steiner tree as in ConFL, we aim to maximize the resulting profit by potentially supplying only a subset of all customers. Furthermore, capacity constraints on potential facilities need to be considered. We present two mixed integer programming based approaches which are solved using branch-and-cut and branch-and-cut-and-price, respectively. By studying the corresponding polyhedra we analyze both approaches theoretically and show their advantages over previously presented models. Furthermore, using a computational study we are able to additionally show significant advantages of our models over previously presented ones from a practical point of view.

A cutting plane algorithm for the Capacitated Connected Facility Location Problem
We consider a network design problem that arises in the costoptimal design of last mile telecommunication networks. It extends the Connected Facility Location problem by introducing capacities on the facilities and links of the networks. It combines aspects of the capacitated network design problem and the single-source capacitated facility location problem We refer to it as the Capacitated Con...
متن کاملA Branch-and-Cut-and-Price Approach for the Capacitated m-Ring-Star Problem
The Capacitated m-ring-star Problem is a variant of the classical one-depot capacitated vehicle routing problem in which a customer is either on a route or is connected to another customer or to some Steiner point present in a route. We develop a new exact algorithm for this problem using a branch-and-cut-and-price approach and compare its performance with that of a branch-and-cut algorithm pro...
متن کاملA New Hybrid Algorithm to Optimize Stochastic-fuzzy Capacitated Multi-Facility Location-allocation Problem
Facility location-allocation models are used in a widespread variety of applications to determine the number of required facility along with the relevant allocation process. In this paper, a new mathematical model for the capacitated multi-facility location-allocation problem with probabilistic customer's locations and fuzzy customer’s demands under the Hurwicz criterion is proposed. Thi...
متن کاملA computational evaluation of a general branch-and-price framework for capacitated network location problems
The purpose of this paper is to illustrate a general framework for network location problems, based on column generation and branch-andprice. In particular we consider capacitated network location problems with single-source constraints. We consider several different network location models, by combining cardinality constraints, fixed set-up costs, concentrator restrictions and regional constra...
متن کاملAn effective heuristic for large-scale capacitated facility location problems
The Capacitated Facility Location Problem (CFLP) consists of locating a set of facilities with capacity constraints to satisfy the demands of a set of clients at the minimum cost. In this paper we propose a simple and effective heuristic for largescale instances of CFLP. The heuristic is based on a Lagrangean relaxation which is used to select a subset of “promising” variables forming the core ...
